The Beach Dwellers New Music: The Beach Dwellers Nueva Música


 If you find yourself venturing to the drum circle on Nokomis Beach, you might be lucky enough to stumble into Thorisaz and the Beach Dwellers performing impromptu music on the beach after most people have cleared out. There may be puffs of fire glowing in the sky as people perform fire dancing on the beach. You never know how many kites might fill the sky or what dancers will continue to groove under the beach moonlight’s illumination.

There might be silly songs about blueberries like this, or there might be a sexy, scary tune. Though the Beach Dwellers may change out at any given time, in these videos, the musicians include Marisa L Williams on vocals, Kevin Fitch on guitar, with Ras Shomari and Jose Angel Figueroa on drums, featuring John Riley and Todd Williams playing with fire. Music topics may change with requests from the audience, getting as silly as sexual topics like they did at the horror convention in Orlando, proving no request is taboo.

This group is well known for their outlandish shenanigans, as they will use anything as an instrument. Todd has been known to play a garden hose, a metal water bottle, and a snorkel to make music in the band, with Jose often sporting multiple instruments as he plays. Though they are untraditional at best, they will have you grooving and questioning why everything on the radio sounds the same, when people could be telling more musical stories.

SGC Car Show: Exposición de coches

When you are driving around Florida in the aftermath of a hurricane, you don’t necessarily expect to see a car show in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The South Gulf Cove homeowners association hosted not only a car show, but set up almost like a swap meet with various vendors, a bake sale, and all kinds of fun for area residents.
