Buggies to Macao Beach and Cave: Buggies a la playa y cueva de Macao

While in the Dominican Republic, we opted to take a buggy excursion to Macao Beach and swimming in a cave.  Pro tips for the off roading adventure includes covering yourself with long pants and long sleeves, as you will get splashed with not only mud but animal run offs. This is why you want your mouth and nose covered with some sort of bandana, or in our case, a pool towel from the all-inclusive Sports Illustrated Resort.


Mientras estábamos en la República Dominicana, optamos por hacer una excursión en buggy a la playa de Macao y nadar en una cueva. Los consejos profesionales para la aventura fuera de la carretera incluyen cubrirte con pantalones largos y mangas largas, ya que te salpicarán no solo con barro, sino también con carreras de animales. Esta es la razón por la que quieres que tu boca y nariz estén cubiertas con algún tipo de pañuelo, o en nuestro caso, una toalla de piscina del Sports Illustrated Resort con todo incluido.





After riding down trails, main roads and bouncing through some rough areas for mudding, our first stop was Macao Beach. With the pristine mountains in the background, the waves here get a little rough, as you can feel the current moving you in and out with the waves. It’s not like the Great Lakes in Michigan, so be mindful of things like riptide warnings.


Después de recorrer senderos, carreteras principales y rebotar a través de algunas zonas difíciles para hacer barro, nuestra primera parada fue la playa de Macao. Con las montañas vírgenes en el fondo, las olas aquí se ponen un poco ásperas, ya que puedes sentir la corriente que te mueve dentro y fuera con las olas. No es como los Grandes Lagos de Michigan, así que ten en cuenta cosas como las advertencias de mareas.



After washing off the mud on the ocean, it’s back on the buggies for more off roading adventure, making our way to where they make coffee, organic chocolate, and more, including their local alcoholic beverages. Grab some souvenirs, go back on the buggies, and head down to the cave to rinse off again. There’s nothing quite like jumping into the cool waters of an underground cavern to refresh you after being out in the hot sun, so be sure to bring swim gear on this excursion through the Dominican Republic.


Después de lavar el barro en el océano, está de vuelta en los buggies para más aventuras fuera de la carretera, llegando a donde hacen café, chocolate orgánico y más, incluidas sus bebidas alcohólicas locales.
